About Local Agents
A New Zealand directory for finding professionals and local businesses, and for being found.
What this is
Local Agents lists professionals and businesses across New Zealand by what they do and where they work. You can search by trade and area, read what a provider says about themselves, read reviews from people who have used them, and send one enquiry to several of them at once.
It covers both individual professionals (mortgage advisers, lawyers, accountants, tradespeople) and companies, because people look for both and usually do not care which they get as long as the work is right.
How it works
- Search by service and location.
- Compare profiles, experience and reviews.
- Send one enquiry to up to 5 providers, and let them come back to you.
It is free for people looking for a provider, and there is no account to create. How it works goes through both sides of that in full, including what we check before a listing goes live and what we do not.
What we check
Two things here are moderated by a person rather than published automatically:
- Every provider application. Nobody appears in search results until an administrator has reviewed what they wrote and approved it.
- Every review. Reviews are claims about a named, identifiable business, so none is published until someone has read it.
We are honest about the limits of that. Approving a listing is not a warranty of anyone's work, and a verified badge is an identity check rather than a guarantee of competence. For work where a licence is legally required, ask to see it. Our Terms of Use say the same thing in more detail.
Where we stand on your details
Your contact details go to the providers you picked, and nowhere else. We do not sell them. We do not run advertising or analytics trackers, which is why this site has never asked you to accept cookies. Enquiries are deleted automatically after 24 months.
The detail is in our Privacy Policy, which describes what the system actually does rather than what would be convenient to claim.
If you provide a service
Listing is free to start. You write your own profile, choose the categories and areas you cover, and enquiries arrive in a dashboard where the customer's contact details are shown to you and to nobody else.
List your business or sign in if you already have an account.
